Topline
The average price of a ticket to the San Francisco 49ers playoff game against the Dallas Cowboys this Sunday topped $1,400 on the secondary market, according to TicketIQ, making it the most expensive NFL Divisional Round game in more than 10 years, with the Philadelphia Eagles’ upcoming game against the New York Giants taking the second spot.
Key Facts
The average price of a ticket to see the Eagles home game against the Giants on Saturday costs $1,106—142% more expensive than Philadelphia’s last Divisional Round home game in 2018, according to ticket platform TicketIQ, which started tracking ticket data in 2010.
Tickets to the 49ers home game against the Cowboys, meanwhile, cost $1,420, on average, with the cheapest ticket available on the secondary market costing $563 and the most expensive going for $9,668.
A standing-room-only ticket for the Eagles-Giants game is the least expensive on the secondary market, listed at $390, while the most expensive low-level midfield seats go for more than $9,000.
The prices to both games are well above the other two Divisional Round games set for this weekend: the cheapest ticket for the Buffalo Bills-Cincinnati Bengals game is $248, while the cheapest to see the Kansas City Chiefs-Jacksonville Jaguars game costs $203, according to TicketIQ.
Big Number
$6,800. That’s how much the cheapest seats to the 2022 Super Bowl between the Bengals and the Los Angeles Rams were listed at on Ticketmaster, while VIP suite level tickets went for more than $82,000—although Sportico reported the most expensive ticket to the game was listed at $100,000. Last year’s Super Bowl, which was played in Los Angeles, was the most expensive in the history of the league.
Contra
The game comes less than a month after Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field after he suffered cardiac arrest in a nationally televised Monday Night Football game, prompting the NFL to cancel the game. His harrowing on-field collapse led to widespread support for the second-year player, as well as an outcry from critics who point to the cardiac arrest as just the latest example of football’s dangers.
Surprising Fact
Both games top the previous record set in 2019, when the Los Angeles Rams hosted the Cowboys in the Divisional Round of the playoffs, with the average ticket costing $717, according to Jesse Lawrence, the founder and CEO TicketIQ.
