NFT art may be new for the Indian diaspora, but there’s a huge talent pool of artists who have the potential to dominate the global NFT art scene.

Many Indian artists have already jumped on the bandwagon and are bringing an “Indian perspective or lens” to the future of art.

1. Sneha Chakraborty

A leading mural and street artist, Sneha Chakraborty, recently entered and captivated the NFT art scene. She has travelled across India and painted hundreds of wall murals.

Her artwork generally has traditional Indian motifs and depictions of women, as well as nomadic themes from all over the country.

2. Prasad Bhat

Prasad Bhat is well-known for his unique creative style of portraying people’s faces. He runs Graphicurry, an independent artist company and design studio based in Bangalore, India.

After completing engineering, he forayed into the creative field – ranging from graphic design to stage or stall design for various premium Indian firms.

His viral GIFs have appeared on 9GAG, Reddit, GQ, Bored Panda, and the Rolling Stones, and he has collaborated with Disney, Amazon Prime, HotStar, and many other major brands.

3. Siraj Hassan

In 2021, the NFT artist shook the digital landscape with his “Caged NFT” collection on OpenSea. Hassan’s fascination with glass snow globes inspired the series.  The artwork series drew influence from nature, striking skull motifs, and the mental condition.  These works, created during the lockdown, are about loneliness and mental health.

4. Khyati Trehan

Khyati Trehan is a graphic designer and 3D visual artist based in New Delhi. After graduating from the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, in 2014, she has worked with the Oscars, Instagram, Snapchat, the New Yorker magazine, the New York Times, Samsung, PRINT, WeWork, Adobe, and Apple.

Khyati was named one of Print Magazine’s 15 New Visual Artists Under 30 in 2017, was named Artistry Creator of the Year at Adweek’s Creator Visionary Awards, is a Young Guns 19 Winner, and was recently named to Forbes India’s 30 Under 30 list.

Trehan’s artworks are playful, expressive, and diverse, and have appeared in publications such as WIRED, Vice, Communication Arts, Fast Company, Creative Review, and many more.

5. Karan Kalra

New Delhi based digital artist Karan Kalra uses illustration, animation, painting, sculpting  and other abilities to create artworks that bridge the gap between web3 and pop culture. Kalra has been active in the scene since 2016 and has a strong following.

As a multi-disciplinary visual engineer, Karan’s artworks tell a story. Whether it’s his tribute to his homeland of New Delhi, his futuristic portrayal of the 2000 rupee note, or flying automobiles, his work is complex while being approachable.
