Nike RTFKT COO Nikhil Gopalani said on Jan. 3 that he lost all his NFTs to a “clever phisher” who hacked his wallet.
Gopalani tweeted that the hacker stole all his Clone X NFTs and other unnamed digital assets in a phishing attack. He added that the hacker had same phone number as his Apple ID.
Etherscan data shows that the affected wallet is now worth only $0.11.
Additional information from OpenSea shows the phisher drained Gopalani’s NFTs with two wallets — the attacker stole 19 CloneX, over 30 RTFKT-related NFTs, 17 Loot Pods, and 11 Crypto Kicks NFTs cumulatively worth over $170,000.
Meanwhile, RTFKT CTO Samuel Cardillo suggested that his colleague might have provided confidential information to the hacker. He also hinted that law enforcement agencies might be investigating the incident.
Cardillo said:
“Be aware that companies such as Microsoft, Apple, … will never ask you for your password, your private key nor any other forms of private information via phone nor emails.”
RTFKT is a virtual sneakers company owned by Nike. The collection has a floor price of 4 ETH, according to OpenSea data.
