Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party is returning to NBC and has announced a talent lineup. Saturday Night Live’s Chloe Fineman, Sarah Sherman and comedy trio Please Don’t Destroy are set to join co-hosts Miley Cyrus and Dolly Parton. Musical guests will also include singer-songwriter Fletcher, rapper Latto, rock band Liily, hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd and Sia.
The special will air on NBC on Saturday, Dec. 31, at 10:30 pm ET and will also be live-streamed on Peacock.
Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party premiered last year with hosts Cyrus and SNL’s Pete Davidson. This year Parton will replace the comedian as Cyrus’s co-host. The country legend is also Cyrus’ godmother. The two have collaborated before with duets, Parton’s Hannah Montana cameos and Dolly Parton: A MusiCares Tribute.
“The inaugural Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party was an unqualified success and we know this year’s show will be just as spectacular, with plenty of surprises and lots of fun,” said Jen Neal, Executive Vice President, Entertainment Live Events, Specials and E! News, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, when the special was announced. “We can’t wait to get the party started.”
The special is again set to be filmed in Miami. Last year’s special featured Brandi Carlile, Billie Joe Armstrong, Jack Harlow and Saweetie. The show performed well with the 18-49 and 18-34 demographics giving the best New Year’s Eve viewership NBC has seen in those demographics since 2014.
Lorne Michaels is an executive producer on the special, which may explain the heavy involvement of SNL cast members. Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party is one of several programs to count down on New Year’s Eve and is quickly becoming NBC’s answer to ABC’s Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest and CNN’s New Year’s Eve Live.
