- The billionaire launched a poll to see whether he should resign as CEO.
- No one knows whether Twitter’s CEO has already identified a successor.
Edward Snowden, the NSA leaker, has shown interest in becoming Twitter’s CEO. The 39-year-old ex-NSA consultant said in a tweet today that he would accept payment in Bitcoin for the position. It was in reaction to Elon Musk’s statement that he need a CEO who could “keep Twitter alive.”
All of these developments arise in the wake of Twitter’s leader making some contentious policy changes. That has infuriated some users and alienated previous allies. Recently, Musk instituted a regulation that makes it impossible for users to share content from rival social networks.
The Voting Result Will Decide
The billionaire launched a poll to see whether he should resign as CEO. After apologizing for these changes and promising to put future policy changes to a vote.
The Tesla CEO asked, “Should I step down as head of Twitter?” He further added, “I will abide by the results of this poll.” The majority of voters, 56% as of this writing, support the billionaire’s resignation. With just 5 hours remaining to vote, approximately 11 million people have already participated.
No one knows whether Twitter’s CEO has already identified a successor in case he is forced to stand down as a result of the vote. However, the CEO of Twitter could not be interested in the people that apply for the open positions.
The billionaire apparently responded to the numerous people who offered to take on the position by tweeting, “Those who want power are the ones who least deserve it.”
According to Musk, whoever assumes this responsibility will have their work cut out for them. The billionaire revealed the microblogging platform’s impending insolvency in response to Lex Fridman’s offer to take up the position for free.
