Today’s Wordle #538 Hints, Clues And Answer For Friday, December 9th

Thank Father Christmas it’s Friday! (TFCIF!) Somehow, the year is almost over. Christmas looms in the not-so-distant future and I still don’t have a tree. I’m usually more on the ball with the Christmas décor, but 2022 is weird. It is what it is.

My kids have one truncated week left of school this semester then it’s two weeks of Christmas break. This would be more exciting if they hadn’t already missed so much school due to sickness! Sigh. It is what it is.

Last night was The Game Awards and I don’t think Wordle won any, but it’s definitely going to be on my best games list of 2022—along with Elden Ring and Midjourney. Among others.

But for now, a Wordle a day keeps the demonic forces at bay!

The Clue: There are more consonants than vowels in today’s word.

The Answer:

So this one was a bit tricky despite getting two green boxes right out the gate with my new favorite opening guess, grape. That, I discovered later, chopped the remaining potential solutions down to just 36. Not too shabby!

Drawl—which Wordle Bot said was “not my favorite guess”—slashed that number down to just 3. But it still took two more guesses to get to the finish line. When I guessed fraud, Wordle Bot cluck-clucked at me that brand would have been better. Maybe so, but I got braid the next guess and if I’d been thinking of brand I probably would have taken 5!

All’s well that ends well, and I tied the Bot today again. He got his answer in four as well, with slate / churn / bravo / braid.
