Elon Musk has announced that he has fired Twitter’s general counsel for withholding sensitive information about a story on Hunter Biden’s laptop. Musk stated that James Baker was fired from Twitter due to a “possible role in information suppression.”
Musk stated in his tweet,
In light of concerns about Baker’s possible role in suppression of information important to the public dialogue, he was exited from Twitter today

Musk made no mention of any internal investigations into Baker’s “possible role” in limiting free speech on the platform. Musk responded to a tweet by Matt Taibbi, who was also the author of the Twitter files that were exposed last week.
Matt Taibbi and Elon Musk collaborated on the book “Twitter Files.”
Taibbi cited a piece by professor and legal expert Jonathan Turley that was published in the New York Post. According to the report, the preliminary information on Twitter’s censorship programme has revealed that Democratic officials used former FBI agent James Baker as a back channel to stifle critics on the social media site.
In his blog, Turley claimed that Baker had been fired from the FBI. However, he later underwent a criminal conduct investigation as a result of his involvement in the Russian investigations. After that, Twitter hired him as its deputy general counsel. Turley alleges that Baker was associated with the Biden campaign through secret channels. He was also responsible for censoring a story about Joe Biden’s son.

The previous Twitter management took action to stifle news about Hunter Biden’s laptop before the 2020 US Presidential Election. The debate over whether the laptop story fell under Twitter’s “hacked materials” policy. It reportedly involved Twitter deputy general counsel Baker, according to the Twitter Files written by Taibbi.
