While the cryptocurrency market is facing a massive winter this year, blockchain platform Polygon is increasingly focused on expanding its ecosystem through key partnerships. On Tuesday, December 9, Polygon joined hands with Warner Music and LGND Web 3 music platform to build a new digital collectibles platform.
By collaborating with some of the world’s leading organizations, Polygon has become a leading on-ramp to Web3. With this latest partnership, Polygon will introduce Music NFTs to the market in an open, sustainable, and permissionless environment. The official announcement from Polygon reads:
LGND Music, enables you to play music digital collectibles, or “Virtual Vinyl”, on-the-go. Also, select @warnermusic artists will launch their digital collectibles & connect fans with special content and experiences.
With a seamless, easy-to-use on-ramp, you can buy & own music tokens, even if you’re not familiar with digital collectibles.
The first music NFTs will come in January 2023 in collaboration with the world’s leading dance record label – Spinnin’ Records. Polygon believes that Music NFTs and Web3 can help artists and fans come closer.
Ethereum’s Layer-2 scalability platform Polygon has joined hands with some of the leading media houses recently. Earlier this year in July, Polygon became a part of Disney’s Accelerator Program. Here, they will work with Disney with a focus on AI, NFTs, and Augmented Reality (AR).
The Rise of Music NFTs
In another development, the popular Windows media player Winamp announced that they would allow users to play music NFTs in a simple and seamless manner. Winamp’s latest music version also allows users to link their Metamask wallet via Chrome, Firefox, and Brave browsers.
It currently supports the distribution of audio and video files with ERC-721and ERC-1155 standards. Winamp said that they would club the NFT support with other important upgrades in the future. Winamp’s player will bring together the scattered experiences into a single, great-sounding place. Speaking on the development, Winamp CEO Alexandre Saboundjian said:
“The genesis of Winamp has always been about accessibility and innovation, and today we are proud to launch the very first standalone player reading audio NFTs, as well as any other existing formats. This new version of Winamp allows people to listen to any file they want, using a player they already love.”
