Nicklas Bendtner, the soccer player best known for his time at the English Premier League club Arsenal, appeared at the BLAST Fall Finals CS:GO tournament to participate in the show match alongside some of the best players in the world.
Bendtner made an impressive entrance to the stage at halftime of the show match on the tournament’s final day. The show match pitted top Danish stars against some of the top players from across the world, along with one fan on each team, as some light entertainment before the grand final later in the day.
At halftime, the Danish team was down 9-6, and the home crown in Copenhagen feared that the rest of the world team would outmatch their local players. Then Bendtner made his entrance, rising through the stage to appear with angel wings on the screen, hailed as the savior of the Danish team.
He then went on to join the Danish players, putting them up to six players on the team facing off against the enemy team who still only had five players. In his first round, he managed to pick up a kill but he struggled after that ending with just four kills and 12 deaths. Although he didn’t look terrible when playing against the pros, potentially down to him investing a lot of hours into the game during the 2020 pandemic.
Unfortunately, the extra player on their team didn’t provide enough of an advantage, as the rest of the world team took the win over the Danes 16-13. However, there is no doubt that this was one of the more entertaining show matches in recent times, with the addition of fans, some fan-voted antics and the local celebrity making it significantly more interesting than just a standard pick up game between different pros.
While the addition of Bendtner may seem a bit random, even given the location of the event, he is actually an avid CS:GO fan and owns his own team. Launched earlier this year, Prosapia Esport ApS is headed up by the soccer legend and is one of the projects he has taken on after retiring from playing.
The BLAST Premier Fall Finals has been a great CS:GO event, with incredibly close action and some top-quality production. In the grand finals, FaZe Clan are set to take on Heroic to decide who will become champion and take home $200,000.
