Lindsay Lohan Discusses Her ‘Falling For Christmas’ Netflix Film And Reveals Her Interest To Join Marvel

For nearly 25 years, Lindsay Lohan has reigned as the lovable heroine in such memorable films as The Parent Trap, Freaky Friday and Mean Girls. After taking a brief hiatus from her Hollywood leading roles, Lohan, 36, has officially returned to her comedy roots in the form of a heartfelt holiday film titled Falling for Christmas, now streaming on Netflix.

In Falling for Christmas, Lohan plays Sierra Belmont, the stylish heiress to a luxury hotel dynasty. She soon finds herself with amnesia following a bizarre skiing accident and the unexpected events that follow put life into perspective for the privileged woman, while helping her discover her true and productive purpose.

Being both the star of Falling for Christmas and an executive producer on the project, I began my conversation with Lohan by asking her what joys she has had not only returning to the screen, but also having an active hand behind-the-scenes in the filmmaking process.

“When we started filming the movie, I actually realized that part,” Lohan tells me. “I was like ‘Oh my god, I actually have more of a say on what happens.’ I always pay attention to all the little details on-set, so to be able to have that kind of role now was really exciting for me. Also, the editing process and all the end after the movie is being put together, I really got to be fully involved in that. I threw myself into it and it’s a different role that I really love and I’m not looking to give up any time soon. I’ve been on sets my whole life, so I feel like I have that to give now, so I want to use it.”

Lohan was only 12 years old when her big breakout role in Disney’s The Parent Trap (1998) premiered in movie theaters. These 24 years later, I wondered how Lohan’s mentality and approach with Hollywood has evolved over the years into her adulthood.

With her Falling for Christmas experience on the mind, Lohan says, “I don’t think much differently of it. I think maybe because it has been so long that I’ve been on-set, it was like a new excitement that I haven’t felt in a long time. Everything was refreshing to me. It was just a whole different way of starting, getting on-set and making movies again that I really missed that I didn’t realize how much I had missed.”

It has already been announced that Lohan’s next film will be another romantic comedy titled Irish Wish as part of her two-picture deal with Netflix. She also continues to host her The Lohdown podcast, where she speaks with creative individuals from a wide range of industries about their professional and personal rise to success. Beyond that, I was curious to know what types of stories and projects Lohan wants to take on next, as she looks to the future.

Lohan responds, “I think I’m always the kind of person that I see what comes and take it as it comes, wherever the scripts lead me. I love doing ‘rom coms’ so that’s always something that I’m going to look for and do a ton of when the time is right, but there’s definitely other – I’ve never done an action film. I would love to do something with Marvel – just seeing what comes my way and I’m open to different roles.”

With Lohan officially back on our screens again with plans already in motion to continue on with her movie-making path, I wrapped up our conversation to see if the beloved movie star might have a special holiday message for her loyal fans, people who have cheered her on throughout her entire Hollywood career and continue to do so today.

Lohan smiles and says, “I just want to say thank you so much. You don’t know how much your support means to me and I feel really grateful and blessed and just like a very lucky girl, so God bless you all and thank you.”
