Luka Doncic Trading Card Valued At $4.6 Million Makes Public Auction Debut

Everyone wants a piece of Luka Doncic. The Dallas Mavericks phenom is already smashing records early in his fifth season. Now, deep-pocketed collectors can own a part of his meteoric rise to NBA superstardom.

A rare, one-of-a-kind Doncic trading card is now available. The 2018 National Treasures Luka Doncic Rookie NBA Logoman Patch Auto 1-of-1 card from Panini is listed in the PWCC Marketplace November Premier Auction. Bidding opens on November 3 at 4 p.m. PT and closes at 7 p.m. on November 17.

This is the first time this card has been made available in a public auction. The card reportedly sold in a private deal in March 2021 for $4.6 million. At the time, it was the highest price ever paid for a basketball card.

Today, that sale makes it the second-highest price paid for a basketball card and the sixth-highest price ever for a trading card. No Doncic trading card has ever sold for more than $1 million at a public auction.

“This auction will be the very first time we see the value for the world’s premier Luka Doncic card set by the open market,” Vice President of Sales at PWCC Marketplace Jesse Craig said in a release. “A Luka card has never sold on a public platform for seven figures or more. It is his premier card making its public debut while he is playing extremely well. It’s a very exciting moment.”

The Doncic rookie card is sure to generate significant interest. Not only because of the superstar appeal of Doncic but because it is described as the most desirable card in existence.

“There is expert consensus that the National Treasures 1-of-1 Logoman for a rookie prospect is their best asset available in the ultra-modern card market,” Craig said. “This would be the premier card for any player. The fact that it is Luka means it is in extremely high demand.”
