Singer Lizzo Submits NFT Trademark Applications for “Sasha Flute” – crypto.news

Since NFTs and the metaverse began to gain traction, various brands and companies have joined the trend. Recently, the famous singer and songwriter, Lizzo filed seven NFT and metaverse trademark applications. This news is coming after the singer filed eight metaverse-related trademark applications in March.

Meanwhile, Lizzo is a skilled classical flutist and a talented rapper, dancer, songwriter, and singer. Her flute, dubbed “Sasha Flute,” has an Instagram account with more than 325,000 followers.

The flutist and singer have been in the spotlight since her recent performance at the Library of Congress. Lizzo had played some notes on the crystal flute belonging to James Madison.

Unfortunately, the singer faced huge criticism from Americans for playing the 200 years old flute. However, the number of her supporters skyrocketed following the rendition.

The singer even performed at her DC concert using the crystal flute. This was during her recent musical tour, The Special Tour.

Also, the Grammy-Award-winning artist is famous for making impromptu flute renditions at concerts. Meanwhile, her move to file a trademark for “Sasha Flute” should not come as a surprise.

Fans of the superstar know how well she loves the instrument. The singer submitted an application to protect her brand name, “Sasha Flute,” for metaverse and NFT-related projects.

Michael Kondoudis, a trademark attorney, tweeted the news of the application on October 5th. The application was submitted to the USPTO (The United States Patent and Trademark Office) on September 30th.

Peter Nussbaum, a certified attorney working with Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi PC, applied in New York.

According to the application, the singer plans to offer virtual clothing, NFTs and NFT-backed media, an NFT marketplace for digital goods, retail stores for digital goods, online virtual environments, fashion, and children’s books.

Before now, Lizzo has made an appearance in the metaverse industry. She took part in a Web3-based concert at Roblox’s first Song Breaker Awards earlier this year.

Lizzo has a sizable fan base both on and off social media. So, it will be fascinating to watch how the metaverse reacts to her arrival.

However, the singer is not the first to embrace NFTs and the metaverse. Several famous singers, including Eminem and Billie Eilish, have joined the metaverse train.

Recently, the artist, Doja Cat, collaborated with JBL. The partnership aims to introduce fruit-themed NFT headphones.

In July, another famous singer, Usher, partnered with the French firm Rémy Martin. Both entities collaborated to release an NFT limited-edition bottle on BlockBar.

Also, the award-winning singer, Madonna, entered the NFT industry, launching a “Mother of Creation” NFT collection. Despite several brands delving into the NFT sector, the sales of NFTs have dropped recently.
