Premier Hockey Federation Drops 2022 Preseason Schedule

Today, the Premier Hockey Federation announced scrimmages and exhibition games for all seven teams beginning this weekend. The Boston Pride and Minnesota Whitecaps will host scrimmages against local colleges and all PHF teams will play in preseason exhibitions against other franchises.

The Boston Pride, back-to-back PHF champions, played a scrimmage against Northeaster last week. The game was not officially announced by the league until today.

Tonight, the Minnesota Whitecaps, the 2019 Isobel Cup champions, will face-off against the University of Minnesota Gophers at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis, MN. The Boston Pride will play Harvard at the Bright-Landry Center in Boston, MA. Bright-Landry was the home ice for the Boston Pride in the inaugural season of the league, known then as the National Women’s Hockey League.

The PHF has always hosted preseason games, though they have not always been publicized. In addition to local colleges, the PHF has also conducted exhibition games against the Russian National Team and 2018 SDHL champions Luleå in an event deemed the Champions Cup.

Not all the preseason matches will be held in current PHF markets. The Metropolitan Riveters will play at Gallo Arena in Bourne, MA on World Girls’ Ice Hockey Weekend. They will take on junior ice hockey team the Northern Cyclones October 15 in Hudson, NH. Additionally, the PHF expansion team the will play the Pride October 23 at the University of Vermont in Burlington, VTVT
.

Meanwhile, the Riveters will host the Buffalo Beauts October 15 at their new home facility smack dab in the middle of America Dream Mall in New Jersey.

Many of the events will include a team Meet & Greet with the competing PHF team rosters. Participation in the preseason games is not required and teams may sign additional players to Professional Tryout (PTO) agreements to compete in exhibition games,” the league said in the official press release.

Some of the exhibitions will be open to the public while others are listed as “admission TBA”. The Premier Hockey Federation did not list any broadcast or streaming details for fans wishing to follow their favorite team from home. The league encouraged fans to follow the seven PHF teams on social media for any changes to the schedule and for game updates.
