Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who plays the infamous Negan on AMC’s The Walking Dead and an upcoming spinoff of the zombie series, is joining Amazon’s superhero drama The Boys in Season 4.
As of now, there’s no information on who Negan will play on the show, or which side of the fight he’ll be on.
The Boys creator Eric Kripke, who worked with Morgan on Supernatural, tells E! News, “Jeffrey Dean Morgan is a superfan of the show, so he and I are talking. We’re trying to figure out something for season four. Nothing finalized yet, but he and I are chatting and e-mailing and seeing it we can make it work with his busy schedule. So, stay tuned on that.”
Morgan joins Jack Quaid who plays Hughie Campbell, Karl Urban who plays Billy Butcher, Erin Moriarty who plays Annie January, and Antony Starr as the sociopathic Homelander when these—and the rest of the large cast—reunite for another diabolical season in 2023.
My gut feeling tells me that Morgan will play a bad guy, or maybe a good guy who goes bad (maybe he takes some Compound V and gets super powers at some point). But maybe I’m biased since I will always think of JDM as Negan, and Negan will always conjure images of Glenn’s death on The Walking Dead even if he has become one of the best characters on that dying show.
Speaking of which, the Maggie and Negan Walking Dead spinoff is no longer called Isle of the Dead, it’s now called The Walking Dead: Dead City. I kind of liked Isle of the Dead more, but maybe this is more fitting.
