Wordle Today #428 Answer, Hint And Clues — Sunday, August 21st

Lazy Sunday is upon us, but that doesn’t mean you should skip your daily Wordle. After all, a mind is a terrible thing to waste.

Or is it mime? A mime is also a terrible thing to waste, though perhaps not quite as tragic.

If it seems like I’m rambling, forgive me. Sometimes I’m at a loss for words. I’m also a bit distracted today. It’s just a lovely summer day, which can be distracting.

So yeah, let’s take a look at today’s Wordle, shall we? Then we can all go frolic outside in the lovely, sunny magnificent world.

The Clue: This word rhymes with many other words.

The Answer:

So this is one of those words that has a lot of first letter possibilities, which is why I guessed what I did on #3.

My first guess, slake, was a variation on Wordle Bot’s new favorite starting word. It was also a very, very lucky guess, narrowing my possible solutions down to just 19. As far as I know, this may be the best guess I’ve ever started with, or very nearly so. (Admittedly, it’s hard to remember them all. I also didn’t always have Wordle Bot to check after the fact).

From here I got lucky again. With the ‘E’ in green I had to come up with something that made sense and baste fit that bill. Miraculously, I got the ‘A’ and ‘S’ out of yellow boxes and into green, with a ‘T’ in green as well, leaving me with _ASTE.

Here’s the trick I ran into, however. There are a lot of possible solutions that end that way. I had already knocked out the ‘B’ but that still left taste, paste, waste, caste and haste and I had no idea what would be the right choice. Admittedly, I was leaning toward waste but thought I should probably find a word that would take out several of these letters. Whoop eliminates waste, haste and paste so at the very least I’d only have two choices left.

With a green ‘W’ however, I knew exactly what the answer was. Winner, winner chicken dinner. V is for victory!
