IRS, Lawmakers Seek Review of Comey, McCabe Audits

WASHINGTON—The Internal Revenue Service and members of Congress have asked the agency’s inspector general to investigate the circumstances surrounding intensive audits of James Comey and Andrew McCabe, two FBI leaders fired by former President Donald Trump.

Both men faced examinations of their tax returns in recent years under the National Research Program, an IRS initiative that uses random audits to develop estimates of tax compliance, according to a New York Times article this week.
