Wordle Today Word Of The Day #385 Hint And Answer — Saturday July 9th

It’s Saturday at last! Huzzah!

This has been a pretty fun week. Thor: Love And Thunder came out and I thought it was a lot of fun (my review is here) even though it’s getting a pretty low Rotten Tomatoes score.

There are lots of great things to watch these days, actually. The new season of The Boys has been spectacular. Westworld is back for a fourth season that’s been quite enjoyable so far. And the third season of The Orville is off to a great start on Hulu.

On top of that, we’ve had a bunch of really great Wordle words lately. Some have been quite tough and today’s is a bit tricky, too. Let’s take a look!

Today’s Wordle #485 Hint & Answer

First, a hint:

This typically follows home or sometimes in, and occasionally precedes fast. Indeed, you rarely use it without one of these other words attached.

And the answer is . . .

This one took me five in large part because my first two guesses were not very helpful.

According to Wordle Bot, trump only cuts the possible remaining solutions down to 214 on average, which isn’t very good at all. This time, I was left with 219! Thanks Obama.

Why did I pick this starting word, you ask? Well, I was on Twitter and I was thinking about how Elon Musk just bailed on the Twitter deal and I was wondering if the people in charge of Twitter are tempted to ban Musk for his shenanigans and that reminded me of Twitter banning Trump and then I went to do the Wordle and the rest is history. Terrible starting word. Never again!

Lithe is a great word but only got me one more letter, and the ‘T’ remained in yellow. Beats was much better, getting me four correct letters but all of them in yellow. SO MUCH YELLOW. Gah!

When I thought of the next word I chuckled to myself. Wouldn’t it be ironic, I thought, if steak was the word and I guessed trump for my starting guess? Trump, of course, had his own line of steaks. He also says he prefers his steak well-done. Now, I don’t care what your politics are. I don’t care if you love Trump or hate Trump. I genuinely do not. But can we all just agree that steak should not be prepared in such a heathenistic manner?

Anyways, the irony was avoided because steak was surprisingly not the answer. Instead, well, it was stead. I steadfastly guessed my way to the correct answer. Now I’m off to settle my homestead, though my hands are a little unsteady today.
