Crypto Skeptics and Haters Set to Hold First-Ever Conference – crypto.news

Cryptocurrency critics and skeptics will be organizing their first-ever conference in London and virtually on September 5th and 6th. Stephen Diehl, a co-organizer of the event claims the primary objective of the Crypto Policy Symposium is to give policymakers the information and material they need to make informed decisions around crypto regulation.

The Crypto Haters Conference

While there have been several cryptocurrency conferences and summits organized by proponents of innovative technologies and crypto market participants to enlighten the world on the unlimited opportunities distributed ledger technology (DLT) offers, haters and die-hard critics of the rapidly-evolving blockchain industry will for the first time organize their anti-crypto symposium later this year.

Dubbed the Crypto Policy Symposium, organizers of the event: Stephen Diehl, a software engineer and co-author of Popping the Crypto Bubble, and Martin Walker, a director of the Center for Evidence-Based Management, claim the primary goal of the two-day conference which is slated for September 5 and 6, is to arm policymakers with the information they need to make informed decisions on crypto regulation.

“For years, crypto skeptics have been a few talking heads on Twitter shouting out to the abyss to anyone who would listen. In the last year and a half, we’ve been networking and sharing information. Our voices are getting louder – and policymakers are listening!” wrote Amy Castor, a crypto critic journalist in a blog post on July 3.

Indeed, the voices of these crypto skeptics and naysayers are getting louder. Earlier in June 2022, a group of 26 scholars, academicians, and computer scientists in the United States sent a letter to the country’s Senate urging them to formulate policies that will completely crumble the crypto industry.

Diehl hopes the upcoming Crypto Policy Symposium will bring together all crypto skeptics under one umbrella, enabling them to connect among themselves and network with lawmakers in a bid to ultimately bring down the crypto industry.

Diehl also argued that politicians and policymakers only hear from crypto lobbyists funded by what he calls ‘deep-pocket’ crypto firms with massive venture capitalist backing. However, the upcoming conference will bring together regulators from the European Union and the United States to “address public interest problems.”

“White papers are being written across every branch of the U.S. government, from the SEC to the Treasury Department to the FBI. Biden has commissioned all of this work and the bureaucrats are woefully uninformed. This is a problem, and that is why work like this is really important,” declared Diehl.

Attendees of the event will get to watch a dozen panels where the speakers will talk about various topics including bitcoin’s environmental impact, the politics of bitcoin, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and Web3, as well as the current DeFi and crypto markets collapse.

That’s not all, the team has also hinted at the possibility of having a top executive from any of the financial agencies around the world, including the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and SEC, amongst others,  to function as the event’s keynote speaker.

At a time when the crypto winter of 2022 has forced various market participants to shutter operations, with exchanges laying off workers and suspending withdrawals, it remains to be seen whether this anti-crypto conference will achieve its ‘deadly’ objective.
