Legendary Hip hop rappers, Snoop Dogg and Eminem have a new music video on the way, in which they both featured as Bored Apes from the Bored Ape Yacht Club.
In a Twitter post on June 24, Eminem revealed that a new song titled “From The D 2 The LBC” would be released, alongside the single’s comic book-style artwork, which featured two Bored Apes that represented Snoop Dogg and Eminem, as well as their affiliation with the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC).
The song was recently previewed live at Ape Fest 2022 by the duo and was produced by 1st AMENDMENT and Young California, in collaboration with the BAYC. Both rappers began the song with a shoutout to their respective hometowns, Detroit and Long Beach, in its refrain: “Put your doobies high if you reside in 213, let’s see them blunts raised/Whether you east side or west side of the 313, let’s see them guns blaze.”
The next scene shows Eminem and Snoop Dogg performing their verses while morphing into animated, Bored Ape-style avatars. Both rappers are, however, not new to the world of NFTs after having previously invested in it. Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers III, purchased an NFT from OpenSea‘s NFT marketplace for $462,000 and subsequently became a member of the Bored Ape Yacht Club.
Since the emergence of NFTs and the metaverse, Snoop Dogg, born Calvin Cordozar Broadus, has actively embraced the concept and is more than happy to invest in it. The Los Angeles rapper owns several Bored Ape Yacht Club NTFs and has collaborated with different creators.
Snoop Dogg has projects with The Sandbox based on Ethereum and Clay Nation on Cardano and was recently announced as a major investor in MoonPay, an on- and off-ramp service, along with top names like Justin Bieber, Bruce Willis, and Ashton Kutcher. MoonPay and Dogg’s Death Row Records have also teamed up to create an NFT marketplace.
The rapper is also looking to extend his reach into the non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and metaverse worlds after filing an application for UNCLE SNOOP and UNCLE SNOOP’S with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on June 14. On June 20, registered trademark lawyer Michael Kondoudis tweeted about the registration, highlighting that it would cover things like apparel, headwear, footwear, virtual cannabis and smoking goods, marketplaces for NFTs, and digital collectibles.
The LA native will also be able to sell smoking accessories, pre-rolled hemp cigarettes, energy drinks, and NFT tokens relating to digital or physical products if the application is approved.
