The Bob’s Burgers Movie is coming to Hulu and HBO Max in the U.S. on July 12. The movie will also come to Disney+ under the Star banner in territories including Canada on the same day and in the European market (excluding Poland), the Middle East and Africa the next day. The movie is also set to premiere on Star+ in Latin America on July 20.
Along with the announcement, 20th Century Studios also uploaded clips of a song from the movie on social media. The Bob’s Burgers Movie premiered in theaters in the U.S. on May 27 and the film is based on the Fox animated sitcom of the same name. The show is set to return to TV in the fall for its 13th season.
The movie follows the Blecher family during a summer when a large sinkhole forms outside of the family’s ever-struggling burger restaurant. The Bob’s Burgers Movie features the voices of H. Jon Benjamin, John Roberts, Kristen Schaal, Dan Mintz, Eugene Mirman, Zach Galifianakis, Larry Murphy and Kevin Kline. The movie was directed by series creator, Loren Bouchard, and Bernard Derriman. Bouchard also wrote the script with Nora Smith.
All 12 seasons of Bob’s Burgers the show are currently streaming on Hulu and the addition of the film made sense for Bouchard. “ We’re so happy that the fans have been able to find us and watch us and binge us as much as they want on Hulu. Our fantasy is that we have to send over a new copy of the Bob’s movie to Hulu because their copy gets all worn out from people watching it so much,” said Bouchard.
The film’s Hulu debut is part of Hulu’s larger Get the Big Screen on Your Screen campaign. The summer movie campaign includes premiers of The Princess, Not Okay, Prey and others.
The quick turnaround to streaming of the film is notable especially since it will be coming to multiple services. The film made $32 million in theaters to date and is still playing. The Bob’s Burgers Movie faced stiff competition against other films most notably Top Gun Maverick. While it might not have been the largest blockbuster of the summer, it has gotten overall positive reviews and has been able to catch some of the cult following of the show.
