TNT drama Snowpiercer, based on the graphic novel Le Transperceneige as well as the 2013 film directed by Bong Joon-Ho, will conclude after the upcoming fourth season.
“We can confirm that Snowpiercer will end after a successful, multi-season run on TNT,” said a network spokesperson in a statement. “Its talented writers, actors and crew took an extraordinary premise and brought it to life in thrilling ways. It was critically acclaimed, had a significant impact on the post-apocalyptic genre, and now remains in the hearts and minds of fans forever.”
Debuting on May 17, 2020, Snowpiercer follows the passengers of the Snowpiercer, a gigantic, perpetually moving train that circles the globe carrying the remnants of humanity seven years after the world becomes a frozen wasteland. The cast includes Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs Iddo Goldberg, Katie McGuinness, Rowan Blanchard and Roberto Urbina.
The post-apocalyptic series’ now final season season is currently in production and the cast’s options were not picked up, releasing the actors to book other jobs. A total of 30 episodes of Snowpiercer have been produced through season three.
Once a platform for a multitude of scripted dramas, Snowpiercer was the last remaining in the genre on TNT following the cancellation of Animal Kingdom (which opened its final season on June 19).
