Peter Golder, who has served at the SDX Digital Exchange (SDX) as the Chief Commercial Officer for the last two years, has now joined the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) as the Head of Group Digital Assets.
SDX was the first major stock exchange for rolling out a digital assets platform supporting securities. Golder very recently announced that him taking the newly created position as LSEG. He started just a week ago and reports to the Group Head of Capital Markets and the Group Head of Post Trade, Murray Roos and Daniel Maguire.
LSGE’s step to establish a digital assets group can be associated with the UK planning for a financial market infrastructure (FMI) sandbox. And it would facilitate the institutions to experiment with blockchain technology.
In Fact, the EU has also recently passed legislation for something similar to enable the same institution to deal with the trading exchange and operate the post trade aspects as for the digital assets; both the phases happen on the blockchain ideally.
This is not the first time LSEG has been contemplating about digital assets, as its background suggests that it is developing a solution for UK equities post trade; it acquired TORA that provides crypto trading, and it also has an investment in Nivaura that enables technology for digital securities workflows.
On a global level, many stock exchanges have been exploring digital assets and post-trade solutions or both in some way or another.
The London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) is constantly taking steps toward the world of digital assets, and this seems to be great news for them. These moves signify that despite the skepticism that hovers around the digital assets, they continue to grow and make a considerable position in the global finance space.
