We Are Warriors is a mental wellness community that incorporates both NFT and DeFi features. This means that each member can own a piece of the platform, which is built on STAGE. Co-founded by Alexis Ren, We Are Warriors (WAW) aims to promote crypto to women.

WAW describes itself as ‘a membership network focused on connecting and supporting the next generation of leaders’. To achieve this, the platform has an expansive team of experts from singer and actress Monique Coleman to best-selling author Allie Michelle. A community of young women from over 70+ countries are part of WAW, receiving education on mental wellness, journaling, meditation, and finance – including buying NFTs and managing a crypto wallet.

In an interview with Forbes about WAW, Alexis Ren explained, ‘I wanted to create a community that served as a safe space for women to heal, grow, learn, and support one another, rather than comparing themselves. Now more than ever, we need these warriors of support in our life – to make us feel connected wherever we are and no matter what we’re going through’.

How does the DeFi approach support women in finance?

The online community Simply Defi explains that ‘A community model allows for members to benefit from each other’s experience and knowledge, and to share key insights from their DeFi journey’. This crypto education platform aspires to transform the crypto space for women by creating an atmosphere that encourages female investors and experts. They utilize the community focus of DeFi to provide their members with this crypto education.

Women, Crypto, and NFTs

Several online projects are working to redistribute NFT wealth and support female artists. In 2021, NFTs earned a total of $41 billion, and around 90% of this went to male artists. Pussy Riot’s Nadya Tolokonnikova created the UnicornDAO with the intention of fighting this inequality by only supporting female, non-binary, and LGBTQIA+ artists on her platform.

Popular NFT sites like Binance NFT’s host exclusive premium events such as exhibitions and promotions of unique collectibles. As around 90% of NFT sales are by male artists, highlighting the work of female artists could open up innumerable opportunities, such as a spot in Binance NFT’s premium exhibitions. Additionally, the cryptocurrency BNB powers the BNB Chain ecosystem. Therefore, encouraging gender inclusivity in a variety of crypto spaces could open up a wealth of new crypto avenues for women to engage in.

If this promotion of female artists pays off, there is some hope that new coins such as Parody Coin (PARO) will see more equal gender statistics. As Parody Coin (PARO) is a presale coin that hasn’t been launched yet, which increases its likelihood of being at the forefront of social change. Parody Coin (PARO) will have an NFT marketplace specifically for Parody NFTs. Based on the work being done by We Are Warriors, Simply DeFi, and Nadya Tolokonnikova there’s hope that more than 10% of Parody’s (PARO) NFT sales will be done by women.
