Developers continue to flock to Polygon as the number of decentralized applications on the platform has been on the increase.

Polygon, the Ethereum Layer-2 scaling platform, has announced a new milestone following the massive adoption of the network by decentralized application (dApp) developers.

Citing data published by Alchemy, a Web3 developer platform, the Polygon team noted today that the number of decentralized applications on the network has surpassed 19,000.

The current number of dApps on Polygon represents a six-fold increase from the 3,000 decentralized applications recorded on the network in October 2021.

Surge in Number of Developers on Polygon

The surge in the number of decentralized applications on the Ethereum L2 scaling platform suggests that developers now find the network as the perfect solution to build their project on.

According to Polygon, the number of developers on the network is also rising rapidly as there are now over 8,000 active developers on the platform on a monthly basis.

The value is up from the 6,000 developers building on the Ethereum Layer-2 network earlier this year.

Reason for the Rising Interest in Polygon

Mike Garland, Product Manager at Alchemy noted that one of the reasons developers are flocking to Polygon is because the network is ready to use as developers need to commence building instead of spending thousands of hours maintaining backend infrastructure as experienced on other blockchains.

“We work hand-in-hand with the Polygon team to resolve and mitigate network-level incidents, and Alchemy’s platform enables developers to build products on Polygon in ways they couldn’t before,” Garland said.

Commenting on the development, Sandeep Nailwal, Polygon co-founder, said:

“Alchemy gives Polygon developers the infrastructure they need to grow, evidenced by the unprecedented Polygon transaction volumes, with high throughput and low fees.”

It is worth noting that developers are not building insignificant projects on the Ethereum Layer-2 network, as the platform has succeeded in becoming home to some of the most popular decentralized applications, including OpenSea, Uniswap V3, Aave and Lazy.com, among others.

Other Projects Tap Polygon

DApp developers are not the only ones using Polygon for a number of developments, as other crypto-related projects have also tapped the network for a number of initiatives.

Fintech company Stripe announced last week that it had adopted Polygon to enable Twitter users to receive payments in USDC.

Similarly, PayBolt also noted that it has launched on Polygon to allow online merchants to accept cryptocurrencies that are based on the Ethereum L2 platform.
