Today’s ‘Wordle’ Answer #293: Friday, April 8th Solution

It’s Friday and it’s the 293rd Wordle, which is quite a few but still under a full year of guesses. We’re just about a week away from an auspicious Wordle, however: Wordle #300!

The game continues to be a global viral sensation the likes of which we haven’t seen since Pokémon GO launched back in the summer of 2016. It’s quite inspiring, actually, that a game about words—and one with no ads or monetization—should become such a massive hit. It gives me some small hope for humanity, however slim.

In any case, today’s word was a bit frightening! Let’s go take a look at the hint and solution . . .

Today’s Wordle #293 Answer & Hint

But first, a hint:

You might feel this way if you’re about to lose at today’s Wordle.

And the answer is . . . .

Scare!

I tell you what, I had a bit of a scare during today’s Wordle—hence the hint—since it really came right down to the wire. It’s weird, too, because I didn’t have a single yellow, and I had two green boxes in the first line, but this still took me until guess #6 to get it right. And you know what? I almost guessed scars but then I thought to myself, “No, they’re not doing plurals right?”

What’s also weird is that I guessed scary up there on guess #4 but didn’t think of the word scare until the end. I went with scarf first. That seemed like a reasonable guess!

It just turns out there are a lot of words that start with scar and it’s a good thing I got this right or I’d have been scarred for life!

In any case, stain ended up being a pretty darn good opening salve, and shark was bang-on as well. I think most of these were good guesses and it still took me six. Go figure. Such is life. C’est la vie…
