Morgan Wallen’s Dangerous: The Double Album spends its 51st week at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart this week, setting a record for the longest run since the chart launched in January 1964, according to Billboard.
The country singer’s sophomore album surpasses the previous record held by Luke Combs and Shania Twain. Combs’ 2017 debut, This One’s for You, and Twain’s 1997 third studio album, Come On Over, both reigned on the chart for a then-record setting 50 weeks.
Dangerous earned 46,000 equivalent album units the week ending March 24, up 2%, according to Luminate. The project debuted on the Top Country Albums chart on Jan. 23, 2021, with 265,000 equivalent album units. At the time, Dangerous had the largest country sales since Carrie Underwood’s Cry Pretty in 2018.
Wallen’s 30-track project also spent 10 consecutive weeks atop the Billboard 200 chart in 2021. At the time, it held the record for the most weeks at the peak position since Drake’s Views spent 13 nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 in 2016. Dangerous also topped the 2021 Billboard 200 Albums Year-End chart with 4.1 million units sold.
To date, Dangerous has amassed 5.9 billion on-demand U.S. streams. Its success has carried into 2022 as Dangerous: The Double Album won Album of the Year at the 57th Academy of Country Music Awards in early March.
Wallen is currently on the road with his Dangerous Tour. The trek closes Oct. 8 in Arlington, Texas, with the singer’s debut stadium show at Globe Life Field.
