ESMA announced that it has named Dr Theocharides as its new Chairman of the Economic and Markets Analysis Committee.
Recently shared in a press release with Finance Magnates, Dr George Theocharides, a specialist in energy and environmental engineering, has been appointed by The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) as its new Chairman of the Economic and Markets Analysis Committee (CEMA).
Theocharides brings nineteen years of experience as an engineer to the role. He will retain the post as Committee Chairman until 31st December 2022.
Also, CEMA monitors developments in financial markets, assesses systemic risks and provides economic background analysis for the general tasks of ESMA. This consists of regular reporting of trends as well as potential risks and vulnerabilities in EU financial markets.
A Brief Look at Theocharides Career
Prior to the announcement, Theocharides has served G. Th. Energy Solutions Ltd for the last sixteen years as Dr Engineer in Nicosia Cyprus. Additionally, from 2007 to 2011 he held the title of Director.
In 2004, he joined the ranks of Directort as a Private Consultant and spent a year with the company.
Moreover, his first known form of employment was with CYPIN ENERGY SYSTEMS as its Technical Manager. Over the course of sixteen months, he handled the area of renewable energy, developed designs and proposals for customers, and installed the systems.
Theocharides stated: “I am honoured to have been appointed to this role, which reflects Cyprus’s ongoing commitment to contributing to the healthy development of the financial markets in Europe, encouraging innovation and ensuring investor protection.”
