Cboe Global Markets Posts Options ADV of 13.2 Million Contracts in February

A provider of global market infrastructure and tradable products, Cboe Global Markets yesterday published its monthly trading statistics for February 2022. The overall volume across 4 options exchanges of Cboe reached 250.9 million contracts, the highest February volume on record.

In terms of total options ADV, the figure reached 13.2 million contracts. The recent numbers from Cboe Global Markets came on the back of strong performance in 2021. Last year, the operator reported record options volumes after the trading activity jumped substantially.

For February 2022, Cboe Global Markets posted record trading activity in S&P 500 Index Options. “Total volume across Cboe’s four options exchanges was 250.9 million contracts. Total options ADV was 13.2 million contracts for the month. With a record ADV of 31,846 contracts, trading in S&P 500 Index (SPX) options during Global Trading Hours reached a new high in February,” Cboe Global Markets noted.

Apart from posting strong trading activity across different exchanges, the operator increased its acquisitions during the past year. In November 2021, Cboe Global Markets announced its expansion in the Canadian financial markets with the acquisition of Aequitas Innovations (NEO). Earlier in 2021, the operator completed the acquisition of Chi-X Asia Pacific to increase its presence in the Asian region.

In February 2022, Global FX ADNV climbed by nearly 15% YoY. “MSCI EAFE Index (MXEA) options set a new daily volume record with 6,793 contracts traded on February 25. Cboe BIDS Canada, Cboe’s new Canadian equities block-trading offering, successfully launched on February 1 with strong buy-side demand. Cboe Periodic Auctions reported record ADNV traded of €2.0 billion in February, beating the previous record of €1.9 billion ADNV traded in January 2022,” the operator added.
