The 10 Biggest Songs In The World In 2021

For the second year in a row, The Weeknd claims the biggest song in the world, proving that nobody is doing it like he is. The Canadian R&B/pop superstar’s single “Save Your Tears” has officially been named the top track on the planet from last year by the IFPI (International Federation of the Phonographic Industry), beating out massive smashes from the likes of Olivia Rodrigo, Dua Lipa, Justin Bieber and BTS.

Amazingly, The Weeknd is now the first musician to claim back-to-back Digital Single Awards from the IFPI, as he also claimed the No. 1 song last year. His inescapable “Blinding Lights” was the most popular track in 2020, and this time around it’s still going strong inside the top 10, as it slips to seventh place. The Weeknd is the first artist to win the prize twice in a row.

According to the organization, the Global Digital Single Award is “presented to the world’s best-selling single of the year across all digital formats – including paid subscription streaming, ad-supported platforms, and single-track downloads and streams.”

Coming in second place is “Stay” by The Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber. The latter star fills two spots on the 10-rung list, as his other single “Peaches,” which credits both Giveon and Daniel Caesar in featured roles, is down at No. 6. Next up at No. 3 is Dua Lipa’s “Levitating,” followed closely by BTS’s “Butter” at No. 4.

Like Bieber and The Weeknd, Rodrigo also charts two of the top 10 biggest songs in the world in 2021, as her breakout singles “Drivers License” and “Good 4 U” land at Nos. 5 and 8, respectively. Down at the bottom of the tally are Lil Nas X with “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” (No. 9) and Ed Sheeran with “Bad Habits” (No. 10).
