What happens to happily ever after in the world of telenovelas? Fans will soon find out. Telemundo is reviving one of its most successful series: Pasión de Gavilanes, which made its debut on the network in 2003 and was distributed in over 120 markets across the world. The tale of love, passion and revenge was a hit in several countries in Latin America. Now, two decades later, the saga of the Elizondo and Reyes families continues with the next generation.
Telemundo has picked Valentine’s Day for the season premiere of Pasión de Gavilanes II (Hidden Passions II) to begin filling in the blanks of what has transpired in the tumultuous lives of the protagonists since the end of the series almost 20 years ago.
Danna García and Mario Cimarro reprise their roles as Norma Elizondo and Juan Reyes. Also returning to the sequel: Juan Alfonso Baptista as Juan Alfonso Baptista, Paola Rey as Jimena Elizondo, Natasha Klauss as Sara Elizondo, Zharick León as Rosario Montes and Kristina Lilley as Gabriela Acevedo. Michel Brown and Sergio Goyri also make special appearances.
Once mortal enemies, the Reyes brothers and the daughters of the Elizondo family are now a powerful and influential entity but a murder interrumpts the harmony in their lives. Juan and Norma’s rebel twins, Erick (Sebastián Osorio) and León (Juan Manuel Restrepo) are the prime suspects and a series of other problems threaten to destroy their lives.
The new generation of “gavilanes” in the series revival includes Bernardo Flores, Camila Rojas, Alejandro López, Yare Santana, Jerónimo Cantillo, Germán Quintero, Constanza Hernández, Carmenza González, Tatiana Jauregui, Ángel de Miguel, Boris Schoemann, Jacobo Montalvo, Jhonatan Bedoya, Sebastián Vega, Valeria Caicedo, Katherine Porto, and Álvaro García.
Pasión de Gavilanes II was shot entirely on location in Colombia. The Telemundo original was written by Julio Jiménez González and Iván Martínez Lozano, and directed by Rodrigo Triana, Sergio Osorio and Camilo Vega, with Telemundo’s Karen Barroeta, Harold Sánchez, Marcos Santana, and CMO’s Clara María Ochoa and Ana Piñeres as executive producers.
In addition to linear broadcast, episodes will be available online and on the Telemundo app and will also be streamed the following day on Peacock.
This is Telemundo’s second high-profile revival of a series after an extended period of time. La Reina del Sur was the first, although it didn’t take as long to return to the small screen. The original series premiered on Telemundo in 2011, beating Univision in the 10 pm timeslot, and the sequel debuted eight years later, again winning the No. 1 spot in primetime. Season 3 of that series is currently in the works.
Pasión de Gavilanes II kicks off its return run on Monday, February 14 at 10 pm/9c.
