V ruled over the Digital Song Sales chart last week with his single “Christmas Tree,” which debuted in first place on Billboard’s ranking of the most-purchased individual tunes in the U.S. The BTS performer was new to the No. 1 spot on the tally, though he had come very close to conquering it in the past with a different track he shared in 2020 without his bandmates. His jolly cut quickly established itself as the bestselling in the nation, and it won the frame by a very healthy margin.
Here are three statistics that highlight how big V’s “Christmas Tree” was on last week’s Digital Song Sales chart.
Outsold The No. 2 Song Twice Over
“Christmas Tree” debuted atop the Digital Song Sales chart with just over 23,500 copies sold, according to MRC Data. That’s actually a fairly small sum for the No. 1 bestselling single in America, but last frame, it was easily enough for the South Korean superstar to claim the throne for himself.
V beat the runner-up bestselling tune, Gayle’s “ABCDEFU,” more than twice over. The rising talent’s first breakout single sold a little more than 11,000 copies last frame, or just slightly less than half what the top tune managed.
Outsold The Nos. 2 and 3 Bestselling Songs Combined
V’s “Christmas Tree” was so popular upon its arrival, it didn’t just outsell the next-bestselling tune, it outperformed the two cuts that land right behind it. When the sales totals of both Gayle’s “ABCDEFU” (No. 2, 11,000 copies sold) and Adele’s “Easy on Me” (No. 3, less than 9,100) are combined, they still don’t quite match the K-pop artist’s sum.
Outsold The No. 10 Bestselling Song More Than Four Times Over
Looking at the bottom of the top 10 on last week’s Digital Song Sales chart, it’s clear that it wasn’t a particularly busy period for Americans purchasing songs online. The No. 10 bestselling tune in the nation last frame was “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” by the cast of the animated film Encanto. That rising single was bought by a little more than 5,100 fans. V’s “Christmas Tree” outsold that title more than four and a half times over, proving that he really does dominate the highest tier on the sales tally.
