Iran’s Hashrate Declined Amid US-Israel Conflict
According to the Hashrate Index report, Iran’s hashrate declined to 2 EH/s with a drop of approximately 7 EH/s due to the ongoing conflict with the US and Israel in the last quarter. Luxor Technology Marketing Director Ian Philpot stated that this decline did not affect neighboring United Arab Emirates and Oman, and the global hashrate maintained its stability at ~1.000 EH/s. Regional disruptions redistribute hashrate without threatening network continuity. The Middle East conflict escalated in February with US and Israel’s attacks on Iran, and a two-week ceasefire agreement was reached on Tuesday. Iran has an estimated 427,000 active Bitcoin (BTC) mining devices.
5.8% Drop in Global Bitcoin Hashrate
Global hashrate showed a 5.8% drop from 1.066 EH/s in Q1 to 1.004 EH/s in Q2; Philpot attributed this to the BTC price collapse. BTC is 45% down from its 126,000 dollar peak in October. Mining profitability stands out as the main driver of geographical changes; inefficient old equipment (25+ J/TH) was taken offline, with 252 EH/s marginal capacity offline. BTC Hashrate Share of the Largest Countries
The top three countries control 65.6% of global hashrate: US 37%, Russia 17%, China 12%. In leading countries like the US, Russia, and China, hashrate is stable, but the composition is changing with the retirement of old equipment and the relocation of modern devices to profitable regions. Similar optimizations are observed in Canada. This distribution supports stability in the BTC futures market.
Conflict and Profitability Reshaping the Mining Map
The decline in Iran accelerated the shift of hashrate to the US and other stable regions. Taking inefficient machines (25+ J/TH) offline increases the network’s overall efficiency, while the global hashrate balancing around 1,000 EH/s demonstrates the Bitcoin network’s resilience. Profitability-driven migrations may continue in the future.
