World Unveils MiniKit 2.0 to Simplify App Development Across Ecosystem

  • Teams can now easily expand from first deployment to entire World Chain apps without altering key logic.
  • With the integration of Flashblocks, World Chain can now confirm transactions in around 200 milliseconds instead of up to two seconds.

World is announcing the launch of MiniKit 2.0 on World Chain, a technological upgrade that brings speedier transactions, gas sponsorship, and more builder financing options while standardizing development across online and World App environments.

By aligning World Chain development with Ethereum’s EIP-1193 standard, MiniKit 2.0 allows developers to create apps once and deploy them across the web and World App with minimum changes. With only two lines of code, existing apps may often be transformed into Mini Apps, cutting down on development costs and speeding up distribution.

The release coincides with the ecosystem’s continued high adoption of Mini Apps. More than 12.1 million Mini Apps have been opened in the last seven days, and the overall number of openings has surpassed 2.2 billion, indicating an increase in consumer application engagement on World.

Teams can now easily expand from first deployment to entire World Chain apps without altering key logic since applications delivered under World App now function just like their standalone web versions. For developers creating consumer-facing apps, this unified development strategy streamlines testing, distribution, and continuous iteration.

With support for more stablecoins including wARS, wCOP, wMXN, wBRL, wPEN, wCLP, and EURC, the upgrade further increases local payment possibilities inside Mini Apps, making World Chain one of the leading chains for local stablecoins. This makes it possible for developers to provide localized payment experiences without having to handle infrastructure or currency abstraction particular to a certain location.

With the integration of Flashblocks, World Chain can now confirm transactions in around 200 milliseconds instead of up to two seconds. Applications that depend on real-time responsiveness, such as gaming, trading interfaces, and interactive customer experiences, are supported by the enhancement.

With the help of ZeroDev’s account abstraction technology, Privy now offers gas sponsorship, enabling developers to pay transaction costs on behalf of customers. This simplifies onboarding, lowers friction for new users, and eliminates the need for wallet balances, bridging, or manual fee management.

World also announced that World Build 3, its developer program that supports teams developing on World Chain and proof of human infrastructure, is now accepting applications. Since its inception, participants have deployed apps used by millions of verified users and received over $15 million from venture capital companies.

The third cohort will start with a four-day hackathon with $20,000 in prizes, then go on to a three-month virtual program, a Demo Day in San Francisco, and a Build Week in Seoul. MiniKit 2.0 and its developer ecosystem will be on display at EthCC from March 30 to April 2 at the Ruby Sponsors Gallery. With the release of MiniKit 2.0, developers now have a consistent framework for creating, deploying, and scaling apps across World Chain contexts.

World is meant to be the biggest, most inclusive network of real humans on the planet. The initiative, which was first conceptualized by Sam Altman, Max Novendstern, and Alex Blania, seeks to demonstrate humanity, finance, and connection for all people in the era of artificial intelligence.
