Donald Trump criticizes UK, France over Iran operation

In a series of posts on Truth Social, US President Donald Trump criticized several US allies, including the United Kingdom (UK) and France, over their position following the recent US operation targeting Iran. According to Trump, countries that depend on energy shipments through the Strait of Hormuz should take greater responsibility for securing their own supplies rather than relying on Washington.

He specifically targeted the United Kingdom, arguing that London had refused to take part in the operation aimed at eliminating what he described as the “Butcher of Iran”. Trump suggested that countries facing jet fuel shortages due to disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz should purchase supplies from the United States (US) or deploy their own forces to secure shipments.

Trump also criticized France, accusing Paris of refusing to allow aircraft carrying military equipment to Israel to cross French airspace. He warned that the United States would “remember” what he described as France’s lack of support.

Market reaction

Despite the strong rhetoric, financial markets appear largely unfazed. Oil prices remain under pressure on Tuesday, with WTI US Oil hovering around $100.25 per barrel and posting a daily decline of 1.73% at the time of writing.
