Coinbase Stock Perpetual Futures Launch for Global Mag 7 Traders

Key Insights:

  • Coinbase stock perpetual futures launched for eligible non-US users.
  • The contracts offer 24/7 leveraged exposure to Mag 7 stocks and ETFs.
  • The move deepens Coinbase’s everything exchange strategy.

Coinbase stock perpetual futures are now live for eligible traders outside the United States. They offer users a new way to trade Apple, Nvidia, Tesla, and other U.S. names through a crypto-native market structure. The launch adds 24/7 leveraged synthetic equity exposure to Coinbase Advanced and Coinbase International Exchange.

This will extend the company’s derivatives play beyond digital assets and closer to its long-stated vision of an everything exchange. Coinbase said the product is regulated, centralized, and designed for retail and institutional users in approved jurisdictions.

Why Coinbase Stock Perpetual Futures Matter Right Now?

The timing is notable. Traditional U.S. stock markets still run on a limited weekly schedule, while crypto trades every hour of every day. Coinbase is betting that traders want the same always-on access for equities, especially when macro headlines, earnings chatter, or risk events hit outside Wall Street hours.

In its announcement, the company said stock perps answer rising demand for round-the-clock exposure in markets where direct access to U.S. equities can be costly or restricted.

That framing also fits a broader industry shift. Perpetual contracts became a defining product in crypto because they offered flexible leverage without fixed expiry dates. Coinbase is now applying that structure to stocks and ETFs on a centralized venue. It is positioning itself among the first major centralized exchanges to bring stock perps to market.

How Do Coinbase Stock Perpetual Futures Expand Mag 7 Access?

At launch, Coinbase stock perpetual futures cover the Magnificent 7 cohort: Apple, Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon, Nvidia, Meta, and Tesla. The company also said ETF perpetuals tied to SPY and QQQ are available in jurisdictions where regulators permit them. That gives traders access to single-name momentum trades and broader U.S. equity benchmarks from one account.

The leverage profile is aggressive but familiar to derivatives users. Coinbase said traders can use up to 10x leverage on single-stock contracts and up to 20x on ETF perpetuals, with settlement handled in USDC.

The platform also supports cross-margining across perpetual futures and spot balances. This feature is designed to improve capital efficiency for active traders and portfolio desks.

Access depends on region and onboarding. Coinbase said the contracts are available to eligible non-U.S. retail users through Coinbase Advanced. Institutions can also trade them on Coinbase International Exchange. U.S. persons are excluded, and some jurisdictions may still restrict access based on local rules.

Why Coinbase Stock Perpetual Futures Fit Everything Exchange?

This launch did not arrive in isolation. Earlier in March, Coinbase rolled out futures access in 26 European countries through its MiFID-regulated entity, including indexed products such as Mag7 plus Crypto Equity Index futures.

The company also expanded Coinbase Prime with integrated regulated futures and unified cross-margin across spot and derivatives for institutions. Together, those launches show a clear effort to build a cross-asset stack that moves from crypto into equities, indices, and other global markets.

The strategic message is straightforward. Coinbase wants users to trade crypto, traditional assets, and tokenized markets within a single infrastructure layer rather than splitting activity across specialist venues. Stock perpetuals help bridge that gap because they use crypto rails, settle in USDC, and remain available through the same perpetual futures engine the firm already uses in digital asset markets.

For traders, Coinbase stock perpetual futures create a new venue for hedging, event-driven positioning, and cross-asset strategies that link crypto sentiment with equity leadership. That makes the product less like a niche add-on and more like a signal of where exchange competition is heading next.

Coinbase said it plans to expand its lineup over time to include more liquid equities, additional indices, commodities, and other globally traded assets as demand grows.
