237,830 Healthcare Patients Potentially Exposed After Hackers Access Trove of Sensitive Data

The personal information of hundreds of thousands of US healthcare patients may have been leaked in a cyberattack.

According to the government of Maine, the sensitive information of 237,830 patients of the healthcare firm Bell Ambulance, headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was exposed after the company suffered a cyberattack that started on February 7th 2025.

In a letter to its customers, Bell Ambulance says it wasn’t aware of the breach until February 13th.

“On February 13, 2025, we became aware of unauthorized activity on our computer network and immediately engaged third-party forensic specialists to determine the full nature and scope of the incident.

This investigation confirmed an unauthorized individual accessed data within the Bell network. We then began a thorough review of the impacted portions of our network to determine the type of information contained therein and to whom the information related.”

The firm is one of Wisconsin’s largest ambulance providers, operating 13 locations and a fleet of 96+ ambulances

According to the company, the first and last names of patients may have been leaked alongside Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, financial account information, medical information, and/or health insurance information.

In response to this incident, the firm says it will be bolstering its security protocols and offering victims free credit monitoring.
