The second part of Bridgerton Season 4 is now streaming on Netflix, concluding Benedict Bridgerton and Sophie Baek’s Cinderella romance. Now that the couple has gotten their happily ever after, when will the Regency-era romance return to our TV screens, and which sibling will star next?
Netflix renewed Bridgerton for a fifth and sixth season in May 2025. While Season 4 focused on Benedict and Sophie’s love story, the fourth season will feature an entirely different Bridgerton sibling, as it has for the previous seasons.
There are eight Bridgerton siblings: Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Daphne, Eloise, Francesca, Gregory and Hyacinth. With one love story per sibling, the series is expected to span eight seasons on Netflix, mirroring Julia Quinn’s best-selling eight-book series.
Will Season 5 focus on Eloise’s whirlwind romance with Sir Phillip Crane? Or is it time for Francesca and Michaela, especially following Michaela’s return Season 4? Here’s everything to know about the next chapter of the beloved regal drama.
Spoiler: Warning ahead for Bridgerton Season 4, Part 2.

Bridgerton Season 5 will center on either Francesca or Eloise Bridgerton. Showrunner Jess Brownell confirmed to Deadline during the Season 4 premiere that the sisters will lead the next two seasons, teasing the reveal by wearing the initials “E & F” embroidered on her jacket.
The two youngest Bridgertons, Gregory and Hyacinth, are expected to be the final two siblings to headline the series. In Season 4, Gregory has gone to Eton to study, while Hyacinth is eagerly anticipating her future societal debut. They are not yet eligible to get married, though.
Brownell teased Glamour that there are clues in Season 4, Part 2 that hint at which sibling will star, though “it is not as black-and-white as last season,” she teased, referencing the moment in Season 3 when Benedict said, “See you at the masquerade ball.”
There are a few hints that Season 5 will focus on Francesca and adapt the sixth book in Julia Quinn’s series, When He Was Wicked. The most significant is the death of Francesca’s husband, John Stirling, the Earl of Kilmartin, who dies in Season 4, Part 2. In the books, Francesca falls in love with his cousin, Michael Stirling, who has been gender-swapped to Michaela Stirling in the show. Their relationship is set to become the series’ first central queer romance.
In the finale, Kate Bridgerton (Simone Ashley) playfully asks whose wedding the family thinks they’ll attend next. Eloise and Francesca both say they’re not ready to get married. Francesca, who is still mourning John’s death, says she’s already had her “great love” and “one” was enough.

The full cast list has not yet been confirmed, but it’s safe to assume that recent leads Luke Thompson (Benedict Bridgerton) and Yerin Ha (Sophie Baek) will return for Season 5, along with series regulars Ruth Gemmell (Violet Bridgerton), Nicola Coughlan (Penelope Bridgerton), Luke Newton (Colin Bridgerton), Adjoa Andoh (Lady Danbury), Golda Rosheuvel (Queen Charlotte), Claudia Jessie (Eloise Bridgerton), Hannah Dodd (Francesca Bridgerton) and others.
Thompson recently told Parade that after being the focus of this season, Benedict will likely be in Season 5.
“He’s part of the family, so I’m sure he’ll still be around as well as, you know, making way for the new siblings, but, yeah, of course, of course,” he told Parade about his involvement in future seasons. “He’s part of the family.”

Netflix has not yet announced a release date for Bridgerton Season 5, but it will likely arrive in early to mid-2028. Brownell confirmed a few years ago that the team is aiming to release new seasons every two years.
“We are working to try and put the seasons out more quickly, but they do take eight months to film and then they have to be edited, and then they have to be dubbed into every language,” Brownell told The Hollywood Reporter in 2024. “And the writing takes a very long time as well, so we’re kind of on a two-year pace, we’re trying to speed up, but somewhere in that range.”
