‘Bridgerton’ Season 4, Part 1 String Covers: Taylor Swift, More

Warning: Spoilers ahead for season four, part one of Bridgerton.

After two years, Bridgerton is back and ready to tell Benedict Bridgerton’s love story.

Season four, which is split into two parts, returned to Netflix on Thursday with four episodes. The latest installment focuses on Benedict (Luke Thompson), the second-oldest son of the titular family. After meeting an alluring woman dressed in silver at a masquerade ball, Benedict becomes determined to unmask her identity and put his rakish ways behind him. His search turns complicated when he starts falling for a maid named Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha), unaware that she’s the elusive Lady in Silver he’s been looking for.

Aside from the epic romances, Bridgerton is also known for its selection of string covers of pop songs, which punctuate key moments in the Regency-era drama. Past seasons have included classical covers of tracks like Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams,” Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” and Ariana Grande’s “POV.”

Season four, too, puts a classic spin on well-known songs. Here’s a complete rundown of every pop cover in part one.

Episode 1 (‘The Waltz’)

Coldplay’s ‘Life in Technicolor’ Covered By Vitamin String Quartet

The first cover of season four plays as Sophie, wearing a silver dress and matching mask, arrives at Lady Violet Bridgerton’s (Ruth Gemmell) masquerade ball in a carriage. Sophie’s wonderment at the ornate environment catches Benedict’s attention.

Usher And Pitbull’s ‘DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love’ Covered By Strings From Paris

Shortly after Benedict interrupts a man trying to secure a dance with Sophie, Usher and Pitbull’s dance track “DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love” begins playing. Several pairs take to the dance floor, but Sophie tries to leave, telling Benedict that she can’t dance.

Third Eye Blind’s ‘Never Let You Go’ Covered By Vitamin String Quartet

As attendees dance to a classical cover of Third Eye Blind’s “Never Let You Go,” Benedict and Sophie run to the terrace, where she tells him that she feels out of place at such a society function and prefers to be an observer rather than a participant. The pair banter, and Benedict admits that he feels like an imposter in his own family’s house.

Episode 2 (‘Time Transfixed’)

Taylor Swift’s ‘Enchanted’ Covered By Joseph William Morgan

Bridgerton includes another Taylor Swift track, “Enchanted” from her Speak Now album, in episode two, as Sophie watches through a gap in the drawing room door at the Penwood home and sees Benedict chatting with Posy Li (Isabella Wei), trying to figure out if she’s the Lady in Silver.

Sophie smiles as she observes how kind Benedict is to Posy and yearns for him. Alfie (David Moorst), a footman and confidant, encourages Sophie to go inside and tell Benedict who she is. But Sophie decides not to, reasoning that Benedict is only looking for the Lady in Silver, who’s a fantasy.

Episode 3 (‘The Field Next to the Other Road’)

Paramore’s ‘All I Wanted’ Covered By Vitamin String Quartet

Paramore’s power ballad “All I Wanted” plays during a vulnerable moment between Violet and Marcus Anderson (Daniel Francis) in episode three. During the scene, Violet expresses her insecurities about the prospect of having sex for the first time in years. He, in turn, assures her that he still wants her and they don’t need to rush.

The song continues playing as Sophie and Benedict leave My Cottage to return to London after a memorable, unexpected week together in the countryside.

Episode 4 (‘An Offer From a Gentleman’)

Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Bad Idea Right?’

A classical rendition of Olivia Rodrigo’s “Bad Idea Right?” plays as Sophie runs into Benedict in her living quarters, after he reluctantly agreed to stay away from Bridgerton house for her own comfort as a maid. They start passionately kissing on the staircase, and Benedict makes his bold proclamation of his feelings, telling Sophie that he can’t stay away from her because she consumes him.

“The reality of you has become more tantalizing than any fantasy ever could be, and one I cannot live without,” he says.

But the heated moment dissipates immediately after, when Benedict asks Sophie to be his mistress.

Bridgerton season four, part one is now streaming on Netflix. Part two debuts on Thursday, February 26.
