- Polymarket has just signed a multi-year exclusive partnership with Major League Soccer (MLS) and the Leagues Cup.
- The deal focuses on second-screen experiences and lets fans interact with live match statistics.
- This partnership comes ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.
Major League Soccer (MLS) just took a massive step into the future of sports technology with PolyMarket.
On Monday, the league announced a multi-year deal with Polymarket to become its exclusive prediction market partner.
As soccer becomes more popular in the US, this partnership could provide fans with new tools for connecting with their favorite sport.
The Deal WIth Polymarket and MLS
Under this new agreement, Polymarket will now become the sole provider of prediction market data for the MLS and the Leagues Cup.
This includes events like the MLS All-Star Game and the MLS Cup and the goal is to collect real-time sentiment from fans. This way, instead of just reading expert opinions, fans can see where the community is putting its support and follow suit.

Shayne Coplan, the CEO of Polymarket, explained that fans want deeper ways to engage and by using real-time data, the platform can show how the crowd feels about specific match moments or season-long storylines.
The timing of this deal is perfect for both parties because Soccer (football outside of the US) is seeing a huge surge in interest across North America. Moreover, much of this excitement comes from the upcoming FIFA World Cup, which the United States, Mexico and Canada will co-host later this year.
Fan Engagement And Second-Screen Experiences
One of the biggest parts of this deal is related to the so called “second-screen” engagement.
Most sports fans today watch games with a smartphone or tablet in their hands, and the MLS and its new prediction market partner want to make that second screen more useful.
They plan to build tools that show live probabilities and fan sentiment directly on the league’s apps and websites. This allows viewers to track the odds as a game goes on.
By so doing, every kick, goal or yellow/red card will hold more meaning.
Gary Stevenson, the Deputy Commissioner of the MLS, noted that the league is doung this for the sake of innovation.
Its partnershop with PolyMarket can offer a better experience for supporters and fans will be able to see how the odds change after a goal or sub.
Safety in Prediction Market Trading
Betting and sports integrity have always been hot topics, and there are bound to be some issues that arise.
However, to address this, the partnership is coming with strict safeguards, like independent monitors that watch all trading activities to make sure that everything is fair.
The league and Polymarket will also collaborate on which specific markets are offered to the public. For example, some reports show that they might avoid markets for specific player penalties like red cards. This is to prevent any negative influence on the game.
These moves are necessary because while the CFTC has given the green light to prediction markets across the country, some states like Nevada are still fighting them.
Nevada and New Jersey in particular, have even questioned whether these platforms act as unlicensed sports betting. As such, Polymarket intends to show that it is locked-in on following the rules.
