The Housemaid, the hit psychological thriller starring Sydney Sweeney, Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Skelnar, is reportedly coming soon to digital streaming.
Based on the bestselling novel by Freida McFadden, The Housemaid opens in theaters nationwide Dec. 19, 2025. The logline for the movie reads, “In The Housemaid, Millie’s (Sweeney) new job with the wealthy Winchesters (Seyfried and Sklenar) pulls her into a sexy, seductive game of secrets and power — with shocking twists that keep you guessing to the end.”
Directed by Paul Feig, The Housemaid also stars Elizabeth Perkins and Michele Morrone.
The Housemaid is reportedly being released on digital streaming via premium video on demand on Tuesday, Feb. 3. When to Stream reported. While the streaming tracker is typically accurate with its PVOD reports, When to Stream noted that The Housemaid’s studio, Lionsgate, has not announced or confirmed the movie’s digital release date and it is subject to change.
When The Housemaid comes to PVOD, it will be available to purchase or rent on such digital platforms as Apple TV, Fandango at Home, YouTube Movies & TV and Prime Video, which currently has the film listed for pre-order for purchase for $24.99.
Since digital rental prices are typically $5 less than PVOD prices, viewers can expect to rent the film for $19.99 for a 48-hour period.

The Housemaid has grossed $110.5 million in North American ticket sales and $138.6 million internationally for a worldwide box office tally of $249.1 million to date. The Housemaid had a production budget of $35 million before marketing, Variety reported.
Rated R, The Housemaid earned a 73% “fresh” critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes based on 186 reviews. The RT Critics’ Consensus reads, “A sly throwback to the lurid thrillers that used to dominate multiplexes, The Housemaid cleans up nicely thanks to its wicked sense of fun and a delightfully unnerving performance from Amanda Seyfried.”
In addition, The Housemaid earned a 92% “fresh” score on RT’s Popcornmeter based on 5,000-plus verified user ratings. The RT audience summary for the movie reads, “Juicy and satisfying pop fare, The Housemaid offers a tantalizing peek through the proverbial peephole, sure to delight both newcomers and fans of the novel.”
