Lady Gaga may join Adele and Ed Sheeran if her song “Disease” wins the Best Pop Solo Performance Grammy, making her the third act to come out on top more than once. At the 2026 Grammy Awards, Lady Gaga is tied with producers Jack Antonoff and Cirkut as the second-most-nominated acts. Among artists, she comes in behind only Kendrick Lamar, who leads the charge with nine chances to add to his trophy shelf. Gaga is up for prizes in multiple fields, including Album, Record and Song of the Year, as well as in both pop and dance verticals.
The superstar is once again in the running for Best Pop Solo Performance, and if she comes out on top, Gaga will make history, entering a very exclusive club of some of the most successful names in the genre.
“Disease” Brings Lady Gaga Back to the Pop Solo Field
“Disease,” one of the biggest singles taken from Gaga’s album Mayhem, is among the five nominated smashes for Best Pop Solo Performance. The superstar is up against three other female artists: Sabrina Carpenter (“Manchild”), Chappell Roan (“The Subway”), and newcomer Lola Young (“Messy”). Justin Bieber is the sole male nominee, as he could finally snag this trophy with “Daisies,” the lead cut from his surprise full-length Swag.
Lady Gaga’s First Best Pop Solo Grammy Win
Gaga is hoping to double her total number of Best Pop Solo Performance Grammys, as she first claimed this honor more than half a decade ago at the 2019 ceremony. Gaga beat Beck, Camila Cabello, Ariana Grande, and Post Malone when “Joanne (Where Do You Think You’re Goin’?)” shocked many by ending up the champion. It marked Gaga’s first time ruling the field, and many felt that it was not her best work and that much more successful tunes had been passed over.
“Disease” Could Help Lady Gaga Make Grammy History
If “Disease” is named the winner of the Best Pop Solo Performance award, Gaga will become just the third name to score this honor twice. She will tie Ed Sheeran with a pair of prizes, as the British singer-songwriter won in 2016 and 2018 with “Thinking Out Loud” and then “Shape of You,” respectively.
Adele Set the Best Pop Solo Performance Grammy Record
Adele is far and away the most successful artist when it comes to the Best Pop Solo Performance Grammy, as she has now taken the golden gramophone four times. That’s twice as many prizes as the current runner-up, Sheeran.

Adele became the first back-to-back champion in 2012 and then 2013, as “Someone Like You” and then a live rendition of “Set Fire to the Rain” were selected by the Recording Academy. Several years later, “Hello” was chosen, and most recently, “Easy On Me” beat five other nominees back in 2023.
Lady Gaga Ties Ariana Grande, Adele, Justin Bieber, and Kelly Clarkson
Looking at nominations, Gaga is matched with Grande, Adele, Bieber, and Clarkson for the third-most chances to win the Best Pop Solo Performance Grammy, with four apiece. In addition to “Disease” and “Joanne (Where Do You Think You’re Goin’?),” Gaga’s “You and I” and “Million Reasons” lost the trophy.
Only Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift have earned more nods. Those two women have been up for this specific Grammy five times, and shockingly, neither of them has ever won.
Lady Gaga Could Win Multiple Grammys
“Disease” is only nominated for one award, while follow-up Mayhem single “Abracadabra” could snag Best Pop Dance Recording, as well as either Record of the Year or Song of the Year – or potentially both. Mayhem may help Gaga land another Best Pop Vocal Album honor, and it could finally net the singer and actress her first Album of the Year win.
Harlequin, which is tied to Gaga’s starring role in Joker 2, managed to earn a Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album Grammy nomination, but whether voters remember it or not is yet to be seen.
The winners of the 2026 Grammy Awards will be announced live on CBS on February 1.
