Sharplink:- In a major move at one of the largest Ethereum treasury, Sharplink has announced structural change in leadership.
SharpLink Gaming has appointed Joseph Chalom as its sole Chief Executive Officer, transitioning from its earlier co-ceo model. The appointment, announced last week, follows the departure of Rob Phythian, who stepped down from his roles as Co-CEO and director.
The timing of the transition is notable. Despite ongoing volatility across crypto markets, SharpLink has continued to accumulate ETH.
As of mid-December, the company holds a total of 863,424 ETH, a figure that reflects both direct ETH ownership and ETH-equivalent exposure through liquid staking positions.

Chalom, a former senior executive with deep institutional experience, is now tasked with leading SharpLink’s Ethereum treasury strategy on his own.

He joined SharpLink in July 2025 as co-CEO and will now work as the sole CEO and board member. He is a longtime institutional executive who spent roughly 20 years at BlackRock, ending his tenure there in mid-2025. At BlackRock, he served in senior roles including Head of Digital Assets Strategy, leading the bank’s digital-assets, index & data partnership efforts.
Chalom has always been outspoken about his outlook for Ethereum’s future. For instance, in a Dec. 26 post on X, he said he believes Ethereum’s total value locked will increase 10x in 2026.
This, according to him, would be driven by the expansion of stablecoins toward a $500 billion market, the growth of tokenized real-world assets to roughly $300 billion, rising ETH holdings. The tokenization activity by sovereign wealth funds, and the mainstream adoption of onchain AI agents and prediction markets will further boost it.Chalom sees Ethereum as a foundational settlement layer for next-generation financial infrastructure.

SharpLink’s Strategic ETH Accumulation
The leadership transition comes at a pivotal moment for SharpLink. The company is widely expected to pursue additional Ether purchases, even as crypto markets remain volatile.
Sharplink has been keeping its focus on yield generation alongside long-term asset accumulation. This year, it has staked nearly all of its ETH holdings, generating more than 9,200 ETH in staking rewards.
Institutional interest in SharpLink has also grown alongside its ETH strategy. The company reported that institutional ownership rose from low single digits to more than 30% by the third quarter of 2025.
Similar to bitcoin-focused digital-asset treasury firms that have continued accumulating BTC despite shifting market sentiment. Recently, both Strategy and Metaplanet announced accumulations of 1,229 BTC and 4,279 BTC, respectively, respectiviely. Its rival BitMine’s Ether holdings have also surpassed 4.11 million ETH as of Dec. 28, 2025.
Thus, SharpLink’s new CEO appears committed to expanding its ETH holdings as part of a long-term treasury strategy.
