If you put $1,000 in an Anthony Scaramucci crypto portfolio at the start of 2025, here’s your return now

Anthony Scaramucci, founder of SkyBridge Capital and a long-time cryptocurrency advocate, has remained vocal throughout 2025 about his conviction in digital assets, particularly Bitcoin (BTC) and  Solana (SOL).

But how would a hypothetical investment based on his publicly discussed crypto preferences have performed this year?

Scaramucci has repeatedly stated that more than 50% of his net worth is now allocated to Bitcoin, a position that grew organically from a much smaller allocation as prices surged in previous cycles. He has also highlighted Solana, Ethereum, and Avalanche as core blockchain platforms he believes will dominate the sector over the long term.

Speaking on December 18, Scaramucci discussed Solana’s role in a diversified crypto portfolio, arguing that the market is reaching a stage where only a handful of major blockchains will emerge as long-term winners. He reiterated that SOL is well positioned to be one of them, alongside Bitcoin and a small group of competitors.

“My largest personal position, even greater than Bitcoin, is my position in Solana and I have it all staked,” Scaramucci said, adding that he also owns Avalanche and Bitcoin, while holding only a “very small position” in Ethereum.

How a $1,000 portfolio would look today

Assuming a hypothetical $1,000 investment split evenly across Bitcoin, Solana, Ethereum (ETH) , and Avalanche (AVAX),) at the start of 2025, the results reflect the volatility that has defined the crypto market this year.

Based on approximate prices from early January 2025 and current prices as of December 25, Bitcoin is down around 6–8% year to date.

Ethereum has fallen roughly 12%, Solana is down approximately 36%, and Avalanche has declined by about 66%.

Taken together, the evenly weighted portfolio would now be worth roughly $680–$710, implying a loss of around 29–32% over the year.

Long-term conviction vs short-term volatility

While the short-term performance may disappoint, Scaramucci has consistently stressed that his investment thesis is multi-year, not cyclical. He has argued that Bitcoin is evolving into a form of digital gold, while platforms such as Solana and Avalanche represent long-term infrastructure bets rather than short-term trades.

Notably, a hypothetical $1,000 investment evenly split across his four cryptocurrencies in 2024 that included Polkadot (DOT) instead of ETH was worth approximately $1,595, reflecting a robust 59% gain.

The hypothetical portfolio highlights a familiar crypto lesson: concentrated bets on high-growth assets can deliver outsized gains in bull markets, but they also carry sharp drawdowns when sentiment turns risk-off.
