Hut 8 partners with Anthropic and Fluidstack on US AI data center buildout

Key Takeaways

  • Hut 8 partnered with Anthropic and Fluidstack to develop AI data centers in the US.
  • The agreement establishes a pathway to deploy at least 245 megawatts and up to 2,295 megawatts of capacity.

Hut 8 has entered into an AI infrastructure partnership with Anthropic and Fluidstack to develop a large-scale AI data center infrastructure across the US.

Under the agreement, Hut 8 will deliver between 245 megawatts and 2,295 megawatts of data center capacity for Anthropic, leveraging high-performance compute clusters operated by Fluidstack.

Hut 8 CEO Asher Genoot said the challenge of scaling an advanced AI infrastructure ultimately comes down to power availability, positioning the company’s development strategy as a differentiator in meeting the needs of major model builders.

Genoot added that the collaboration with Anthropic and Fluidstack integrates energy, data center design, and compute delivery into a unified platform designed for hyperscale deployment.

The initial phase will be launched at Hut 8’s River Bend campus in Louisiana, with 245 megawatts of IT capacity backed by 330 megawatts of utility power. Future tranches include expansion rights at River Bend and optional development at additional Hut 8 sites.

The companies target early 2027 for the delivery of new capacity.

“This partnership is an expansion of our existing work with Fluidstack and marks a new opportunity to collaborate with Hut 8 to bring additional capacity online by early 2027,” said James Bradbury, Head of Compute at Anthropic. “Hut 8’s ability to source and deliver infrastructure at scale provides the runway necessary to continue advancing the capabilities of our models.”
