The National Board of Review named Leonardo DiCaprio’s “One Battle After Another” the Best Film of 2025 on Wednesday and also released its annual Top 10 movies list.
The NBR win marks the third Best Film honor that One Battle After Another has won in the past three days. Director Paul Thomas Anderson’s film won Best Feature at The Gotham Awards on Monday night and took the top film honor from the New York Film Critics Circle on Tuesday.
One Battle After Another also earned NBR honors for Anderson for Best Director, DiCaprio for Best Actor, Benicio Del Toro for Best Supporting Actor and Chase Infiniti for Best Breakthrough Performance.
Rose Byrne was named Best Actress for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, while Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas earned the Best Supporting Actress Honor for Sentimental Value.
Ryan Coogler was honored for Best Screenplay for Sinners, while Clint Bentley and Greg Kwedar were cited for Best Adapted Screenplay for Train Dreams.
In addition to naming One Battle After Another the year’s Best Film the NBR named the Top 10 Films of 2025 in alphabetical order: Avatar: Fire and Ash, F1: The Movie, Frankenstein, Jay Kelly, Marty Supreme, Rental Family, Sinners, Train Dreams, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery and Wicked: For Good.
