Former SEC Chairman Gary Gensler, who made his name in crypto history with his anti-cryptocurrency stance, spoke about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.
Speaking to Bloomberg TV, former SEC Chairman Gary Gensler said that all cryptocurrencies except Bitcoin (BTC) are risky assets.
Despite all the developments, Gensler has remained unchanged in his view, describing all cryptocurrencies except Bitcoin as highly speculative and risky assets.
He noted that although the US and the majority of the world support cryptocurrencies, investors should question the fundamentals and underlying value of assets other than BTC.
“The American public and the global public are fascinated by cryptocurrencies. However, these are highly speculative and volatile assets.
“Here, you have to look at what the fundamentals of other tokens are, what the underlying thing is, with the exception of Bitcoin.”
In response, Gensler added that crypto is not a partisan issue and could ultimately serve to protect the strengths of the U.S. capital markets.
He also noted that finance is inherently prone to centralization and sees the consolidation of a decentralized ecosystem as a natural process.
