After waiting nearly a decade, Disney’s anticipated animal sequel Zootopia 2 is finally here and on track to become the highest-grossing film of the holiday weekend. Keep reading to learn when you’ll likely be able to watch the movie at home if you can’t make it to theaters or want to watch it again.
Zootopia 2 is a follow-up to the Oscar-winning 2016 hit Zootopia, one of Disney’s biggest animated successes of the last decade. The buddy-cop story reunites detectives Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde, voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman, respectively, as they set out to solve a new mystery involving a reptilian resident.
“Detectives Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde find themselves on the twisting trail of a mysterious reptile who turns the mammal metropolis of Zootopia upside down,” the official synopsis reads. “Testing their growing partnership like never before, they go undercover in new parts of town to crack the case.”
Following an impressive $39.5 million opening day, Zootopia 2’s success at the box office continues to climb. The sequel is expected to earn $125 million to $150 million over the Thanksgiving holiday to become the No. 1 film this weekend, according to Variety.
Zootopia 2 has been met with a highly positive critical reception from both critics (92%) and audiences (96%) on Rotten Tomatoes, with the sequel’s audience score surpassing that of the original film (92%).
The Hollywood Reporter critic Frank Scheck wrote in his review that the Disney sequel “proves more than worth the lengthy wait, knocking it out of the park with its dazzling visuals, sophisticated humor and doses of genuine emotion.”
How To Watch Zootopia 2 Right Now

Zootopia 2 premiered exclusively in theaters on Nov. 26, 2025. For now, the only way to watch the blockbuster animated sequel is on the big screen. Check your local cinemas for specific showtimes.
When Will Zootopia 2 Be Streaming On Disney+?

While Disney has not announced a release date for Zootopia 2 on its streaming platform, the movie is anticipated to arrive on Disney+ in February or March 2026, approximately three to four months after its Nov. 26 theatrical debut.
This timeline aligns with the streaming patterns of other recent Disney releases. For example, Freakier Friday began streaming on November 12 after its August 2025 premiere. Titles like Fantastic Four: First Steps, Captain America: Brave New World and Mufasa: The Lion King also became available on Disney+ more than three months after their theatrical debuts.
To watch Zootopia 2 when the movie arrives on Disney+, you’ll need to sign up for a subscription to the streaming service. Plans start at $11.99 per month for the basic option (with ads). While Disney+ does not offer a free trial, it does offer a bundle with ESPN+ and/or Hulu starting at $12.99 per month. (There are also Black Friday deals going on today, Friday, Nov. 28.)
When Will Zootopia 2 Be Released On Digital?

Don’t want to wait for Zootopia 2 to be released on Disney+? The sequel will be available to watch at home digitally before it arrives on the Disney’s streaming platform. Fans will be able to rent or purchase the film on digital video-on-demand platforms, such as Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV, typically about 45 to 65 days after its theatrical release.
If Zootopia 2 follows the typical release timeline of most studios, the film’s digital version could debut as early as Jan. 10, 2026. Stay tuned for more details.
