Wicked: For Good
Universal Pictures
Wicked: For Good is now playing in theaters, arriving one year after the two-time Oscar-winning first installment that brought Glinda (Ariana Grande) and Elphaba’s (Cynthia Erivo) story to life on screen. The films are inspired by the fan-favorite Broadway musical by Winnie Holzman, which itself is based on Gregory Maguire’s 1995 revisionist novel.
Wicked (2024) centers on the relationship between the enemies-turned-best friends and their journey to meet the Wizard, which ultimately ends with them discovering he’s a fraud. The second part picks up with Elphaba being labeled a threat to Oz by the Wizard, who is determined to stop her from exposing his lack of magical powers.
“Now demonized as the Wicked Witch of the West, Elphaba lives in exile in the Ozian forest, while Glinda resides at the palace in Emerald City, reveling in the perks of fame and popularity,” the film’s synopsis reads. “As an angry mob rises against the Wicked Witch, she’ll need to reunite with Glinda to transform herself, and all of Oz, for good.”
The film is set both before and alongside the events of The Wizard of Oz (based on L. Frank Baum’s classic The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, later adapted into the beloved 1939 film starring Judy Garland). Dorothy has a larger presence in For Good than in the Broadway musical, and we see glimpses of her journey home, including her visit with the Wizard and her quest to steal Elphaba’s broomstick.
Although Dorothy’s face never appears on screen (read the reason why here), the film does show the evolution of her companions, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion (voiced by Colman Domingo), and the Scarecrow, each with their own reasons or grievances for wanting to meet with the Witch.
Wicked: For Good is off to a “wonderful” start at the box office. Deadline reported that the second part is on track to make $150 million in its opening weekend, which would make it one of the highest-grossing opening weekends of 2025 and the biggest opening weekend for a Broadway adaptation ever, surpassing Wicked’s $112.5 million debut in 2024.

When Will Wicked: For Good Be Streaming On Peacock?
Wicked: For Good (2025)
Universal Pictures
Wicked: For Good, distributed by Universal Pictures, will eventually be available to stream on Peacock. Peacock is also owned by Universal’s parent company, Comcast. The movie will likely arrive on the platform about three to four months after its Nov. 21 theatrical release, meaning sometime in February or March 2026.
Looking at the first Wicked film, also released in late November, it took almost four months to debut on Peacock, becoming available on March 21, 2025. Wicked: For Good will likely follow a similar timeline as its predecessor.
Wicked’s debut on Peacock became the streamer’s biggest Pay 1 film debut ever through its first seven days on the platform. The movie was viewed for 882 million minutes in its first week, according to Peacock.
When Will Wicked: For Good Be Streaming On Digital?

Universal Pictures
The good news is that fans will be able to watch Wicked: For Good at home long before it arrives on Peacock. The digital release, which allows viewers to rent or buy the movie on video-on-demand platforms like Prime Video and Apple TV+, typically happens much sooner.
Studios usually wait about 45 to 65 days to release films digitally after their theatrical debut. But last year, Wicked arrived even earlier, becoming available after just 39 days. If Wicked: For Good follows a similar schedule, there’s a strong chance you’ll be able to stream the film before 2025 is over.
Last year’s Wicked became available on digital on New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31, 2024. The digital release included bonus features such as deleted scenes, a sing-along version, behind-the-scenes clips and more. The 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD release followed on Feb. 4, 2025.
