Watch Out: Hack Claims in an Altcoin Are Under the Spotlight – Developers Issue a Statement

Aerodrome, the largest decentralized exchange (DEX) on the Base network, has warned users that it has detected a potential frontend security breach.

The project team stated that there were problems with some domains that provided access to the platform and that these domains should not be used.

According to Aerodrome’s statement, central domains with extensions .finance and .box are currently at risk. The team assesses these domains as “likely compromised” and suspects a DNS hijacking attack. The project has also urged the Box Domains team to contact them immediately.

Aerodrome, however, maintained that all smart contracts were secure and unaffected. It stated that the issue was limited to the user interface and that funds were safe within the smart contracts.

The team stated that the investigation into the incident is ongoing and will update the community as new developments occur. Users are advised to temporarily refrain from accessing the platform.

However, the price of Aerodrome Finance’s token, AERO, was not directly affected by the attack, losing only 1% of its value in the last 24 hours.
