Topline

A glass mansion that featured in the 2020 blockbuster “Bad Boys for Life” has hit the market in Atlanta for $5.25 million in a secluded neighborhood that once also housed actor and filmmaker Tyler Perry.

Key Facts

The home, which is entirely glass on one side overlooking a 65-foot pool, was designed to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra in 2020 and is meant to “honor the symphony’s glorious past and brilliant future.”

Architect Robert Tretsch said he was inspired by classical composers to design the contemporary home, which Atlanta Magazine later called an “architectural masterpiece.”

The same year it was finished, it featured in the film“Bad Boys for Life” as the home of character Mike Lowrey, played by actor Will Smith.

The 6,995-square-foot estate features a three-story glass curtain wall, marble kitchen with hidden walk-in pantry, full bar, game room, floor-to-ceiling fireplaces and elevator.

There are two poolside bedrooms on the main floor, as well as a primary suite and connected study in a secluded wing of the house. There are two more bedrooms upstairs, for a total of 5, and eight bathrooms.

The house, listed by Debra Johnston of Coldwell Banker Global Luxury, sits on a 1.1 acre wooded lot and includes a three-car garage.

Several screen-featured homes have hit the market in recent months, including another Atlanta-area house that was featured in the Netflix hit show “Stranger Things.” That five-bedroom, three-bath house was used for exterior shots of the Wheeler family home in the show and was described by listing agents as a “quintessential 80s time capsule,” complete with wood paneling, a floral kitchen wallpaper border and a brick fireplace. It was listed for sale at $350,000 in August and sold on Oct. 27 for $365,000. A cliffside compound in Carmel, California that was featured as Sharon Stone’s house in the 1992 film “Basic Instinct” has not sold since it was listed at $91.4 million in August. Called Seacliff, the property is a collection of five parcels with six structures, including a 12,441-square-foot main house.
